In his compelling memoir, Indomitable: How I Spent 37 Years In Wisconsin Prisons and Came Out Better Than I Went In, Harlan Richards shares a raw, transformative account of resilience. Behind bars, he chose a path of total self-rehabilitation—turning decades of confinement into a journey of academic excellence, legal advocacy, and artistic mastery. It is a powerful testament to the human spirit's ability to triumph over adversity.
Harlan Richards spent 37 years in a Wisconsin prison for stabbing a man in a fight. During that time, he made every effort to become a better person in every way. He obtained a bachelor’s of science degree in business administration majoring in marketing (summa cum laude), became an accomplished leather worker, poet, artist and litigator. Now in his 70s, he is free and enjoying all the blessings that living in a free society can provide.
